In the beginning

Gateway Outdoors started trading in summer 2005, with the aim of providing a mobile provision for outdoor solutions for anyone who wanted to experience the outdoor environment. GO is run by Matt Craig, who has been operating as an outdoor instructor in multiple disciplines since 1999, and very much maintains the company ethos that everyone must have the opportunity to get out and try something new.

Gateway outdoors is a multi-discipline provider and, as you can see on the activities page, we offer many different activities. As such we are equally at home going on extended canoe or mountain expeditions to technical coaching on mountain bikes and rock climbing. This variety keeps us motivated and enthused in all the various projects we have been involved with.

The idea of a mobile outdoor providers business is that if you have an idea or aspiration, then we can help you achieve your goals and/ or provide the most suitable solution for your ideas. We discuss your needs, organise the activity, meet you on location and get stuck in. It’s that easy!

Gateway Outdoors offers a range of activities, each activity can be run as a day event or combined with other activities within a geographical area to fill a day programme.

Whilst the main part of our season is primarily “expedition and activity” we organise personal skills courses and instructor training programmes through autumn to spring.

Gateway Outdoors has been providing Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions on foot, bike and canoe for the last 5 years both within the UK and some memorable adventures abroad.

Nearly there now! We're close to finalising the dates for our Winter Programme so you can all start working out how you can make the most of your Winter! In our usual fashion, our mountain days will be based on 'Quality Instruction with Quality Gear in Quality Surroundings' so you can rest assured you're in safe hands. Residential courses 2012
5 day residential courses, based in North Wales The purpose of this residential is to make available opportunities for young people to explore the country they have near to them, whilst at the same time learning to intergrate and meet new people in some challenging environments. The five day residential course will consist of a number of activities; High ropes, canoe / kayaking, gorge walking, mountain biking, hill walking, rock climbing / abseiling and coasteering and will be based from a remote bunkhouse in North Wales. This may qualify you for the residential section of your DofE gold award. This course is priced at £250 per person and inlcudes activities, accomodation and food. We are hoping to provide this course over the course of one or two weeks. (this is all dependant upon demand, so email us the weeks that you'd prefer and we will get back to you) Transport to and from North Wales is not included Week 1; 30th July - 3rd August Week 2; 20th August - 24th August
2012 Open Expeditions
Open DofE expeditions 2012 After much success and interest in our hig-quality expeditions this year, we have a whole new list of opportunities for you to complete your expeditions with us. Substantial discounts for candidates from Shropshire Trekking the summit of Mount Olympos in Turkey! Canoe the Ardèche and Rhone rivers!
